Adipex-P Medicine - Uses, Dosage and Side Effects

PHENTERMINE (Adipex-P®, Fastin®, Phentamine®, Zantryl®) helps you lose weight. You should take this medicine combined with a reduced calorie diet, then it can help you reduce weight by decreasing your appetite. Phentermine is in a class of drugs known as anorectics which decrease appetite by possibly changing brain levels of serotonin.

Adipex-P Dosage

*If you are taking Adipex-P, then the usual dose is 1 capsule or tablet a day, and you should taken before breakfast or up to 2 hours after breakfast.
*If you are taking Ionaminm, then the usual dose is 1 capsule a day, taken before breakfast or 10 to 14 hours before bedtime.
*Do not crush, chew or open any "once-daily" phentermine tablets or capsules. Swallow them whole.

Uses of Adipex-P

*Phentermine is used along with a doctor-approved, reduced-calorie diet, exercise, and behavior change program to help you lose weight.
*It is used in people who are significantly overweight and have not been able to lose enough weight with diet and exercise alone.
*It is short-term supplement to diet and exercise in the treatment of obesity.

Side Effects of Adipex-P

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking this medication.

Side effects may include:

* Changes in sex drive
* Constipation
* Diarrhea
* Dizziness
* Dry mouth
* Exaggerated feelings of depression or elation
* Headache
* High blood pressure
* Hives
* Impotence
* Inability to fall or stay asleep
* Increased heart rate
* Overstimulation
* Restlessness
* Stomach or intestinal problems

Warnings and precautions before taking Adipex-P

*If your blood pressure is only mildly high, then you should be careful while taking this drug.
*Before taking this medication, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to any other sympathomimetic amines including decongestants such as pseudoephedrine, stimulants such as amphetamine, appetite suppressants such as diethylpropion.
*After taken this drug, you may feel dizzy or drowsy or it may also cause blurred vision. So you should use caution engaging in activities that requiring alertness and clear vision such as driving or using machinery.
*Do not take phentermine without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby.
*Before having surgery, you should tell your doctor that you are using this medication.
*Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Adipex-P with certain other drugs, then it may be increased, decreased, or altered the effects of medicine. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Adipex-P with the following:

Drugs that boost serotonin levels, such as the antidepressants Luvox, Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft

Drugs classified as MAO inhibitors, including the antidepressants Nardil and Parnate

Diabetes medications such as insulin and Micronase

High blood pressure medications such as guanethidine (Ismelin)

Overdose

But after taken Adipex-P if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect. Symptoms of a Adipex-P overdose may include:

*Abdominal cramps
*Aggressiveness
*Confusion
*Diarrhea
*High or low blood pressure
*Irregular heartbeat
*Nausea
*Vomiting
