(If you are taking more than one dose a day, take your last dose at bedtime.) * These capsules or tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not break, crush, or chew them before swallowing What are the Side Effects of Guanfacine hydrochloride - Like other medicines, Guanfacine can cause side effects. Some of the more common side effects of Guanfacine include * Constipation, * dizziness * dry mouth, * fatigue * headache, * impotence * sleepiness, * weakness * chest pain * shortness of breath * skin rash, * swelling of the hands or feet * blurred vision * yellowing of the eyes or skin. Seek medical advice from your doctor. * If you will be taking Guanfacine in large doses for a long time, do not stop taking it without first checking with your doctor . * Talk with your physician or pharmacist if you are taking other medications along with Guanfacine. * Breast Feeding - Mothers who are taking Guanfacine and who wish to breast-feed should discuss this with their doctor. * If you have kidney damage and also take the antiseizure drug phenytoin (Dilantin), your body may process and eliminate guanfacine rather quickly; in that case, you may need fairly frequent doses of guanfacine to lower your blood pressure adequately. * Do not drink alcohol while taking Guanfacine. Alcohol may increase drowsiness caused by Guanfacine. It may also increase the risk of seizures. * The safety and efficay of this medicine have not been studied in children and adolescents, hence it is not recommended for use in these age groups. What if Overdose of Guanfacine hydrochloride tablet? If you think you or anyone else taken overdose of Guanfacine, immediately telephone your doctor or contact your local or regional Poisons Information Centre Seek medical attention immediately. You may need urgent medical attention. What if Missed Dose of Guanfacine hydrochloride tablet? If you miss a dose of Guanfacine medicine and you remember within an hour or so, take the dose immediately. If you do not remember until later, skip the dose you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses. Storage Conditions for Guanfacine hydrochloride tablet : Store Guanfacine hydrochloride tablet away from heat and direct light. Do not store Guanfacine the capsule or tablet form of this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down.
